The months following the premiere of my Requiem were filled with both artistic and organizational questions. I had originally intended to begin setting Rainer Maria Rilke’s Das Stundenbuch to music this spring, but for various reasons I ultimately had to abandon that plan.
Instead, an ancient myth moved increasingly into the foreground — one that has fascinated me ever since my student days: Orpheus. Together with my colleague Nils Jensen, I found an artistic approach that opens up an entirely new perspective on the famous tale of the underworld.
For the first time in my life, I dare to develop a bigger concert series 'on the fly'. There are some basic ideas about the kind of music and the way of arranging it for the stage. But as for today I absolutely don't know where all this will take us. The only thing I know is that we are giving ourselves three years for this major undertaking. More information to follow soon. However, we're looking forward to invite you to an extraordinary journey to the underworld ... or should I say: the inner world?
